Emily
Real is learning to breathe.

Meet Emily: she’s a new mom, director of neurosciences and oncology at a local hospital, and a dedicated yogi. Needless to say, there’s no time to spare or choices to compromise–especially when it comes to finding nutritious snacks for her and her family. That’s why she loves RXBARs. We spoke with Emily about defining confidence, cutting through the noise, and finding balance on a busy schedule. Get to know her story.

What’s one thing you live by to help make your life easier?
“I try to carve out an hour just for myself each day. People always ask me how I find the time when I’m a mom and I work full time. I ask them, ‘how can you be there for your family or for your job without taking care of yourself first?’. That’s why I always tell physicians with whom I work, ‘you need to put the oxygen mask on yourself, before anybody else, and breathe.'"

To you, how is confidence defined?
"My definition of confidence is simple: Know who you are, what you’re not, and make no excuses about it."

What keeps you awake at night?
"I want to be a role model to my daughter, so I’m conscious about what goes into my body and hers, but I worry about my family’s relationship with food. Even when people try their hardest to be healthy, they’re still eating chemicals and fillers. But it’s not their fault. I’ve gotten so angry at food production companies for lying to us about what goes into our food. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to get sugary, processed foods out of my family’s diet and out of hospitals, too."

“You need to put the oxygen mask on yourself before anybody else and breathe.”

There’s so much surrounding you on a daily basis. How do you cut through the noise to get to what really matters?
"There aren’t enough hours in the day, but you have to learn how to prioritize your time. That’s why I introduced yoga into my life, because it’s not just for leisure or for the physical benefits. It’s that one hour where I’m disconnected from my phone and emails, just breathing and re-centering. It all goes back to my own priorities about integrating personal time into every day."

How did RXBAR come into your life?
"I’ve tried my hand at making my own bars, but I just don’t have time. I was always on the lookout for a grab-and- go snack I could trust. I love RXBAR because I love reading exactly what’s on the label, knowing it’s only a few simple ingredients I’m putting into my body. There are days I miss lunch or need a snack before or after a workout, and RXBAR is the perfect solution. But I have my slip ups too...I’ll eat french fries like everyone else. It’s about having a healthy balance and making the right choices more times than not. "
